Data centre operator, EdgeConneX will bring expertise and technology solutions to the venture
The Adani Group and the US-based EdgeConneX have formed a 50:50 joint venture (JV) to build hyper scale data centre parks in the six Indian cities.
On Tuesday, in an exchange filing, the company said, “We are pleased to inform that Adani Enterprises Limited has signed Joint Venture agreement with – a) EdgeConneX, Inc., a leading Global DC Operator through its affiliate EdgeConneX Europe B.V. (“ECX Europe BV”) and b) DC Development Chennai Private Limited (“DCDCPL”), a wholly owned subsidiary Company which was formed to set up Data Centre Business of the Company in Chennai, for the purpose of strategic partnership for Data Centre business in India between AEL and ECX (the “Transaction”) and 50% equity stake dilution of DCDCPL by the Company to ECX Europe BV on fulfilment of certain terms and conditions linked with the transaction”.
Development of hyper scale facilities in Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Vizag and Hyderabad have been begun by AdaniConneX JV. The JV will also develop these facilities pan-India.
The company said, “These edge sites are designed and planned to easily scale with demand and become full scale data centre campuses. Importantly, this pan-Indian platform of hyper scale and hyper local data centres will largely be powered by renewable energy”.
EdgeConneX will bring expertise and technology solutions to the venture. The company, which is the leading data centre operator with 50 facilities in 30 markets around the world, will also leverage Adani’s expertise in full-stack energy management, renewable power and real estate development, as well as its experience in building and managing large infrastructure projects throughout the country.
