The production of electric automobiles would use power semiconductors, according to a multi-year deal between Hyundai and Kia and the German chipmaker Infineon.
Hyundai and Kia have signed an agreement with the German chipmaker Infineon for the production of electric automobiles, which would use power semiconductors.
Hyundai and Kia will contribute financially to the project, and Infineon will create and reserve production capacity to supply silicon carbide and silicon power modules and chips to them until 2030, Infineon stated in a statement.
Heung Soo Kim, executive vice president of Hyundai, said in a statement, “This agreement not only empowers Hyundai Motor and Kia to stabilize their semiconductor supply but also positions us to strengthen our leadership in the global EV industry.
