Italy Stands Open to Intel, Competing Chipmakers Investment – Minister

Italy has made a state contribution to facilitate the investment from Intel, its rival chipmaker.

Italy continues to be open to Intel investing in the country and welcomes other chip makers, Industry Minister Adolfo Urso stated on Wednesday.

The minister stated that Italy had made a governmental contribution to facilitate the Intel investment and that the American company had not requested anything more.

Last year, Intel announced plans to establish an advanced packaging and assembly chip facility in Italy as part of a larger long-term investment strategy to increase capacity across Europe. The agreement, which is expected to include governmental subsidies, has not yet been finalised.
