Eagers Car, based in Australia, reported on Friday that a third party claimed to have published data allegedly removed from the car retailer’s servers online.
The company stated that it was examining the claim, determining the type of data that had been exposed, and contacting the affected individuals.
Eagers stated that it would continue to monitor any new accusations regarding the disclosure of the data.
In December, the company disclosed a cyber intrusion that caused an outage across Eagers’ operations in Australia and New Zealand, disrupting its ability to execute transactions for multiple previously sold automobiles ready for delivery.
An inquiry in January discovered that the outage was caused by a third party breaking into the company’s computers and gaining illegal access to elements of its information technology (IT) systems.
“The operational impact of the IT outages on the company initially experienced as a result of the incident has been largely mitigated across all regions and business divisions,” Eagers said.
The company, which has a market capitalization of $2.4 billion, stated that it does not anticipate a material’ financial impact from the incident in fiscal 2024.
