Victoria University is now seeking a new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead its campus’s digital and infrastructural functions together.

Nitin Singh, the university’s director of cyber and digital networks, resigned in November. During his six years in that position, the university also referred to him as the joint CISO.

Singh said he was “taking a short break before starting my next role” in a recent LinkedIn post. A request for comment was not replied by him.

Regarding his departure, the university also refrained from commenting. The university’s security standards had to be reassessed as part of an organizational change initiative that included the creation of the CISO position.

At the start of the year, the IT services and facilities departments of Victoria University combined to form the new Digital and Campus Services (DCS) department.

According to a job offering posted on Friday, the CISO office, which is housed under DCS, is in charge of creating a security plan that complements the university’s recently combined physical and digital model.

Stuart Hildyard, the executive director of DCS and chief digital officer of Victoria University, who was selected for the lead position in January, will receive reports from the CISO.

In 2017, Singh was named director of cyber and digital networks at Victoria University. Prior to that, he spent four and a half years as the marketing director for the Melbourne branch of ISACA, an organization that oversees IT audits.

Singh has previously worked with EY, NAB, and ANZ in senior auditing, risk, and IT service management positions.
