How did you plan your career path to be a successful Technology Leader?

The career path is always based on the learning interests and opportunities that we get from others. To achieve a successful career, a person has to be dedicated to achieving their goals and always work in that direction.

I always had a plan for my career goals in the technology space, including information technology, cyber security, digital transformation, and data space, and I continue to learn current technology using various mediums.

Career Mantra: Invest in your technical skills. Search for and complete additional professional development that will help you take on a broader range of work responsibilities. Choose a career track as per your ability: When the time is right, place additional emphasis on job opportunities that allow you to hone your leadership skills.

What challenges you faced in your career path and how did you overcome them?

Challenges played a key role in a successful career. I always adopt best practices to overcome challenges in my career. Some of the key points always follow to minimize the challenges.

  • Stay level-headed in the moment.
  • Say “I can” when you think you can’t.
  • Don’t dwell on the problem.
  • Divide the challenge into smaller pieces.
  • Create a positive sense of self-perception.
  • Don’t be afraid to admit mistakes.
  • Consider the previous challenges you’ve faced.
  • Tailor your answer to the job description.
  • Be specific about why they were challenges.
  • Be honest in your answer.
  • Present your challenge in a positive light.

What are the challenges faced by IT Leaders today while implementing digital technologies?

Digital transformation has always been challenged by a lack of dedicated tech resources. Technology is volatile.

So, any organization planning to transform its digital landscape must have a team of technology experts who are adaptable and can implement new ways of doing business. CIOs need digital trailblazers to lead initiatives.

Employees and leadership must be aligned with the digital vision, fostering a mindset that embraces innovation and continuous learning.

Successful digital transformation requires new skills and expertise that may not be readily available within an organization. It can be challenging to acquire or develop these skills and to retain talent in a competitive market.

How can Technology Leaders overcome the challenges faced?

A technology leader is someone who makes something happen either through technology or aided by technology.

Balancing technical and leadership skills is more challenging for tech leaders. Tech leaders often face the dual challenge of being technically competent and effective managers and leaders. Striking the right balance between hands-on technical expertise and delegating tasks to team members can take time and effort, especially for new managers or leaders.

Technology leaders can adopt Online learning platforms, webinars, and virtual conferences provide leaders, technology discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions with peers with opportunities to expand their knowledge, acquire new skills, and stay updated on industry trends. Embracing lifelong learning enables leaders to adapt to changing landscapes, inspire their teams, and drive innovation.

By staying current with industry trends, you can stay informed about the latest developments and technologies in your field and be able to adapt quickly to new technologies or methodologies. This can help you stay on top of your game and be more appealing to potential employers.

Any other points which you would like to highlight?

Always Identify your areas of interest in the technology sector. Consider individual sectors and their potential for future growth. Be proactive when developing targeted industry skills. Develop experience in your market of choice.

The roles of a leader are motivator, communicator, and uniter. Leaders motivate their team members to do great work, clearly and consistently communicate expectations and the organization’s cultural norms to them, and unite them with a shared sense of purpose to achieve the vision.
