These adjustments are part of Petrobras’ efforts to expedite its investment plan in response to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s requests that the company increase its investments in order to stimulate the local economy and create jobs.

Magda Chambriard, the CEO of Petrobras, the state-owned oil corporation in Brazil, has announced the nomination of three directors who possess technical expertise and a lengthy career in the nation’s state-run enterprises.

The company announced in a filing on Friday that Fernando Melgarejo, who was appointed as chief financial officer, will succeed Sergio Caetano Leite, who was fired together with former CEO Jean Paul Prates last month.

Sylvia dos Anjos will oversee exploration and production, while Renata Baruzzi will take over as chief officer for engineering, technology, and innovation.

These adjustments are part of Petrobras’ efforts to expedite its investment plan in response to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s requests that the company increase its investments in order to stimulate the local economy and create jobs.

Melgarejo has worked for the state-run Banco do Brasil conglomerate for around 37 years. Currently, he serves as chairman of Grupo Litel’s board, a trustee of the Banco do Brasil Foundation, and a member of the board of directors and audit committee of the energy company Neoenergia.

For Baruzzi and Dos Anjos, Chambriard made his selections from within Petrobras’ own talent pool.

According to the petition, Baruzzi began working for the state-run company Petrobras about 38 years ago. He is currently in charge of the Integrated Logistics Management division.

According to the company, Dos Anjos, a retired geologist from Petrobras, has over 42 years of experience in the E&P field.

Directors Joelson Falcao Mendes and Carlos Jose do Nascimento Travassos will be replaced by them; the current directors will hold their positions until the new directors are accepted by the corporate governance of the company.

As of right now, Chambriard will continue to serve as the executive officer in charge of Clarice Coppetti, Mauricio Tolmasquim, Claudio Schlosser, Mario Spinelli, and William Franca da Silva. However, according to Petrobras, “any other appointments will be communicated to the market in due course.”
