Kaspersky and the USI-CyberPeace Cyber Centre of Excellence (CCoE) of the United Service Institution (USI) of India successfully completed a combined cyber drill for India’s critical information infrastructure (CII) sectors.

At the United Service Institution (USI) of India, Kaspersky and the USI-CyberPeace Cyber Centre of Excellence (CCoE) successfully carried out a combined cyber drill for India’s critical information infrastructure (CII) sectors. Nearly 100 important participants from a variety of CII sectors, such as oil and gas, power, and defense, as well as representatives from regulatory agencies, attended the event. The chief guest of the evening was Vinai Kumar Kanaujia, Joint Secretary of the Secretariat of India’s National Security Council. His appearance served as a reminder of the growing strategic significance of cybersecurity and the focus the Indian government is spending on it in view of the potentially devastating long-term effects of cyberattacks on a number of important sectors.

The keynote address at the event was given by Genie Sugene Gan, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at Kaspersky. She discussed the unique difficulties that India’s CII sectors face as well as the need for a paradigm shift toward systems that are secure by design as opposed to continuously responding to sporadic threats as and when they arrive. The Cyber Immunity Vision from Kaspersky may be able to help with this. “CIIs in India should aspire to achieve cyber immunity. Systems should be constructed so that the cost of an attack on a corporation exceeds the possible advantages, making an assault economically unprofitable for would-be attackers, given that no cybersecurity vendor can promise 100% protection.

Cyber-immune solutions have a lot of room to grow in the Indian industry because of its large pool of technological talent and strong need for defensive solutions for CIIs. Genie Sugene Gan stated, “We hope that today’s session is not a one-time thing but rather the beginning of in-depth conversations with CII players in India on how next-generation cybersecurity solutions might be developed. Attendees also took part in a Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation (KIPS) exercise during the event, where they were exposed to scenarios modeled after actual cyberattack occurrences that simulated various risks that their organizations faced.

Participants were able to improve their decision-making abilities, gain a deeper comprehension of cybersecurity principles, and become more conscious of the significance of collaboration between business units outside of cybersecurity teams in this dynamic learning environment. “The USI-CyberPeace CCoE collaborated with Kaspersky in gathering key decision-makers across various CII sectors in India to take part in this meaningful exercise that builds up cyber resilience for participating organizations,” stated Major Vineet Kumar, the organization’s founder and global president.

This kind of partnership is essential to India’s cybersecurity industry. Through these initiatives, CyberPeace is dedicated to proactively preventing and mitigating cyber risks, ensuring operational continuity, and assisting the CII sector in building cyber resilience. Through this collaboration, we hope to promote an all-encompassing culture of strong cybersecurity readiness throughout the ecosystem. The USI’s distinguished fellow, Major General Pawan Anand, also shared his thoughts on cyber immunity and its applicability to the military, saying that cyber immunity is a necessary safeguard for the military’s sensitive data and that Kaspersky’s efforts to provide it are commendable. Today, the objective in cybersecurity should be to be more proactive rather than defensive.
