Dick’s Sporting Goods disclosed on Wednesday that it discovered last week that a third party had obtained access to some of its confidential information without permission.

Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS.N) announced on Wednesday that it had found out last week that a third party without authorization had gained access to some of its sensitive data. Due to the rising frequency of cyberattacks, business organizations are being forced to notify law enforcement when they discover that third parties have gained access to confidential data through data breaches.

Dick’s the athletic goods merchant said that in order to look into and neutralize the threat, it got in touch with its outside cybersecurity experts right away. Although the company claims to have informed federal law enforcement as well, it is unclear whether this occurrence has affected corporate activities.
