On Monday, the Warangal Cybercrime Police detained two individuals from Tamil Nadu, one of whom was a woman, for engaging in online investment fraud. They also took mobile phones, debit and credit cards, checkbooks, and other items that may have been used as evidence.
Commissioner of Police Ambar Kishor Jha claims that Jaseel and Preethi, the suspects, used fake techniques to open bank accounts at Yes Bank, Axis Bank, and Jana Small Finance Bank. The cybercriminals then tricked the victims into investing a sizable sum of money in “Internal Equity Amount of Goldman Sachs” and “Yum Branding-6001” in the hopes of earning huge profits. According to him, they scammed two people in the city out of Rs. 28 lakhs, and Jaseel and Preethi were taken into custody after they filed a complaint.
After locating the pair in Tamil Nadu, the cybercrime team detained them and transported them to Warangal. They admitted to being involved in over 150 crimes across the nation, including 15 cases in Telangana where victims were tricked out of roughly Rs. 15 crore. The commissioner notified that the accused individuals’ bank accounts were frozen in order to stop additional fraudulent activities.
