During the September 28 National Lok Adalat, the Telangana police resolved 1,38,427 cybercrime cases amicably by using compounding, which is a settlement reached by the parties to a case that is being tried in court.

Starting on September 10 and ending on September 28, the settlement procedure was carried out. The list had 23,251 FIRs, 4,186 disaster management cases, 57,475 e-petty charges, and 53,515 Motor Vehicles Act cases, according to the police’s supplied data.

The top five units in terms of case disposition during the National Lok Adalat were Nizamabad (19,053 cases), Hyderabad (12,247), Suryapet (11,178), Cyberabad (10,935), and Rachakonda (9,823), according to government officials.

₹27.2 crore refunded

The police not only closed cases but also reimbursed the money held in cybercrime cases. Overcoming the previous record of ₹21.6 crore refunded to 4,800 victims in the June 2024 session, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) refunded ₹27.2 crore to 5,355 victims of cyber fraud in this National Lok Adalat.

Since the refund campaign started on February 20, the TGCSB has given 11,868 victims in the state a total of ₹114.7 crore in refunds, according to police.

Among the units, Cyberabad topped the list with 2,860 complaints totalling ₹13.73 crore in refunds. Rachakonda refunded ₹3.01 crore in 555 cases, following suit. Next in line were TGCSB, which reimbursed 2.50 crore in 93 cases; Sangareddy, which did the same in 140 cases; and Karimnagar, which did so in 176 cases with 84.21 lakh.
