On Wednesday, Standard Chartered announced that Zarin Daruwala, its Chief Executive Officer for India and South Asia, would be retiring at the end of FY25.
Since 2016, the seasoned banker has worked for the overseas lender.
The bank said in a statement that it will notify her replacement when the time comes.
During her tenure, the institution has made India one of its major markets by emphasizing cross-border solutions in corporate and investment banking (CIB) and wealth and affluence in wealth and retail banking (WRB). The statement also stated that India has a strong risk and compliance culture.
“If India today is amongst the top markets for Standard Chartered, the credit goes to the team and colleagues,” she said.
Daruwala has worked in banking for 35 years and will turn 60 in February of next year. She had been in charge of the whole corporate credit department at ICICI Bank before joining StanC.
