Cisco investigates a potential data breach following the IntelBroker attack

Cisco is looking into allegations that a data breach at the corporation was perpetrated by hackers led by IntelBroker. In the meantime, on a hacker site, the hackers purportedly sold stolen data from the computer giant.

According to Bleeping Computer, renowned hacker collective IntelBroker allegedly breached Cisco in June, along with their illegal coworkers EnergyWeaponUser and Zjj. They claimed on a hacker forum that they were able to obtain a significant amount of developer data during this attack.

Source code, hard-coded login credentials, certificates, customer SRCs, private Cisco documents, Jira tickets, API tokens, AWS private buckets, Cisco Technology SRCs, Docker builds, Azure Storage buckets, private and public keys, SSL certificates, Cisco Premium products, files from GitHub, GitLab, and SonarQube projects, and more were all included.

IntelBroker provided online examples of the stolen material as proof, including screenshots of CRM portals, customer information, a database, and other customer documents. It is unknown how the hackers were able to enter Cisco’s systems.

Cisco Response

Cisco responds by stating that it is looking into a potential data breach brought on by the alleged hack. The business claims to be aware of hacker attempts to obtain material linked to Cisco.

According to reports, IntelBroker used a slew of significant attacks in June of this year to steal data from many businesses. Targets included AMD, Apple, and T-Mobile. These attacks were purportedly the consequence of an intrusion via a third-party software development and DevOps managed service provider. It’s unclear if the recent Cisco intrusion is connected to these past attacks.
