Google is trying YouTube Premium Lite in new nations

Google’s YouTube Premium Lite is still going strong and growing, unlike what many people think. More nations are testing the subscription option, which gives users an inexpensive substitute for the normal Premium service while offering an ad-free experience. The lite edition, which is around half the price of the normal plan, eliminates advertisements but does not have the extra benefits of the ordinary Premium subscription.

By removing advertisements, YouTube Premium Lite enables users to watch without interruption; however, it should be noted that not all advertisements are eliminated. Rather, the experience has “limited ads,” according to YouTube. This straightforward strategy is aimed at consumers who prefer to watch videos without interruptions and without the extra features of offline downloading and background play that come with the full Premium package.

In late 2023, the Lite membership was temporarily discontinued after being tested in a few markets. It wasn’t completely abandoned, though, as Google kept looking at possibilities, especially in Thailand. According to rumours, the plan has now reappeared, and consumers in Germany and Australia can now sign up. YouTube Premium Lite is available for AUD 11.99 per month in Australia and €5.99 per month in Germany, to be exact.

In addition to Thailand, Google has verified to Android Authority that testing of YouTube Premium Lite is happening in these areas. Although customers have started to notice the plan’s availability, it’s still unknown if Google plans to expand its reach to other nations in the future.

For Rs 149 a month, YouTube Premium provides an ad-free viewing experience on YouTube and YouTube Music. Additional benefits that subscribers receive include background play and offline downloads, which let consumers watch videos and listen to music uninterrupted. Both prepaid and monthly plans are offered by the service, and new customers can begin with a free trial of the monthly subscriptions.

Three subscription tiers are available for YouTube Premium to accommodate a variety of customers. The Individual plan, which is offered as a monthly or prepaid option, has a free trial for new customers and starts at Rs 149 per month. You can add up to five family members who are 13 years of age or older with the Family plan, which costs Rs 299 per month. A one-month trial is offered for Rs 0. For qualifying students, the Student plan also offers a discounted pricing of Rs 89 per month, with a one-month trial available for Rs 0 subject to annual verification and limitations.
