The NSS Unit of the Government College of Education (GCOE) at MA Road in Srinagar arranged an awareness workshop on cyber risks today, with a focus on cybercrime and cybersecurity.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo of the Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence in Jammu and Kashmir was the guest speaker at the occasion.
The program’s objectives were to inform pupils about the different types of cyberthreats and the significance of cybersecurity in the current digital era. Discussions concerning preventative tactics and the importance of reporting cybercrime cases were held among the attendees.
This program demonstrates the college’s dedication to educating students about important community concerns and equipping them with the skills they need to properly navigate the digital world.
Hacking and cracking techniques, phishing and its variants, whisking and pharming attacks, email bombing and its ramifications, the complexities of salami attacks, steganography and its applications in cybercrime, skimming and its effects on financial security, vishing (voice phishing) tactics, and the perils of pornography in the digital realm were all covered in SSP’s informative presentation.
Along with outlining crucial defences against each of these online dangers, the guest speaker gave students useful advice on how to properly safeguard their online personas.
Participants at the discussion included both teachers and students, who voiced their worries about cybersecurity and asked relevant questions. A deeper comprehension of the subject matter was promoted by the interactive character of the program.
