PM Modi Calls for Vigilance and Warns of "Digital Arrest" Scams in Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned the public in his most recent Mann Ki Baat speech about the growing danger of “digital arrest” scams and urged them to be on the lookout for these cybercrimes. PM Modi underlined the significance of awareness and taking preventative action to avoid being a victim of these frauds, pointing out the growing complexity of hackers.

PM Modi explained throughout the program how scammers pose as government or law enforcement representatives in order to scare people into divulging private information or completing financial transactions. He emphasized that no respectable investigative organization would ever call or video call someone to request money or personal information.

“Beware of digital arrest frauds. No investigative agency will ever contact you by phone or video call for such an investigation,” PM Modi stated. He urged people to adopt the mantra of “stop, think, and take action” when faced with suspicious communications.

In addition, the prime minister emphasized how important the National Cyber Coordination Centre (NCCC) is to the fight against these frauds. To ensure a strong defence against cybercrimes, the NCCC coordinates with state agencies to detect and address cyberthreats.

In order to report any suspicious activity, PM Modi urged citizens to visit the cybercrime webpage or call the national cyber hotline at 1930. To help with investigations, he suggested recording conversations and collecting screenshots of any fraudulent attempts.

Along with tackling the problem of digital arrest frauds, PM Modi revealed the government’s intentions to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the births of freedom fighters Birsa Munda and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He urged everyone in the country to take part in these festivities in remembrance of these great leaders.

PM Modi’s message serves as a timely reminder for all citizens to remain informed and attentive in order to protect themselves and their communities from the perils of cybercrime as cyber threats continue to evolve.
