Amazon unveiled a new suite of AI platforms called foundation models that enable the creation of text, images, and videos, among other things, at its annual AWS conference.
Competitors like Adobe and Meta are vying for clients who wish to automate more of their services, and the new solutions put them up against them.
On Tuesday, Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon, revealed the new “Nova” models. According to Jassy, the new services were inspired by a list of requests made by developers.
“They want better latency. They want lower cost. They want the ability to do fine-tuning,” Jassy said.
Amazon’s largest move to counter the perception that it was caught off guard when it came to creating AI applications as rivals surged ahead is the statement made at the Las Vegas conference. Adobe, Meta, OpenAI, and ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, have all announced new AI applications that generate videos from a single image or word cue. According to Amazon on Tuesday, customers may create six-second movies with their Nova Reel software, which can be helpful for things like product displays on the Amazon website. According to Amazon, two-minute videos will be accessible in the upcoming months.
Technologists in the entertainment sector are keen to acquire these tools in order to improve and accelerate filmmaking capabilities. Others, however, are concerned that these systems might violate copyrighted material.
Amazon announced on Tuesday that it had created Canvas, a tool for creating graphics based on brief text instructions. In order to make sure the software is utilized appropriately and stop the spread of bad content, Jassy underlined that Amazon would incorporate watermarking.
Additional products that were unveiled on Tuesday are designed to expedite the processing and analysis of text.
