Metamate is an AI program that Meta has developed internally. According to a media report, Metamate, which is based on Meta’s extensive language model Llama, aids with coding, research, and communication authoring. The program isn’t currently intended for general use, but it is assisting Meta in investigating the potential applications of AI in business, according to Prashant Ratanchandani, vice president of engineering at Meta. The objective is to develop “the world’s best enterprise assistant,” he continued.
What Metamate does
According to the report, executives and other Meta staff use Metamate for coding, locating company data, and getting ready for customer conversations. The business also makes use of ChatGPT from OpenAI and other AI tools.
Although it is too early to gauge Metamate’s influence, Ratanchandani stated that they are aiming to make it more equivalent to a real AI assistant.
The launch coincides with Meta’s investigation on AI revenue streams. Clara Shih, a former Salesforce AI leader, was appointed by the business last month to head its new “Business AI” division. She wants all firms to have access to cutting-edge AI tools.
Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram already have AI elements contributed by the corporation. Metamate still lags behind Google and Microsoft’s comparable capabilities, though. For instance, it lacks sophisticated functionality like calendar management and meeting joining, and it is unable to process photos or video.
AI tools market to grow to $47 billion by 2030
AI assistants are being developed in a rush by tech companies like OpenAI and Google in an effort to draw in more clients and boost sales. Data from market research firm MarketsandMarkets indicates that the market for AI tools is projected to increase dramatically, from $5.1 billion currently to $47 billion by 2030.
Even while the market for AI tools is expanding, it can take years before they are widely used and productivity increases occur. According to experts, businesses frequently test new products internally before making them available to the public. However, given its emphasis on social media and advertising, some think Meta would find it difficult to establish itself as a significant AI vendor.
