Google reduced the Maps platform charge for Indian entrepreneurs and local developers at this year’s I/O Connect event in Bengaluru in July.
Google lowered fees by as much as 90%. This featured a partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which gives developers up to 90% off on a selection of Google Maps Platform APIs, and a 70% price reduction on the majority of APIs.
More attractive incentives to utilize Google Maps effectively in India have now been developed by the search engine giant.
A significant increase from the previous $200 (about Rs 16,971) credit, developers will have access to $6,800 (approximately Rs 5.70 lakh) in free monthly usage beginning on March 1, 2025.
In order to provide the finest services, app developers can integrate the Google Maps API into their platform with the new incentives. Businesses who provide services like food delivery, online taxis, e-commerce, and other sectors will find it useful.
It should be mentioned that Google Maps covers more than 70 lakh kilometers of highways in India, along with 30 crore structures and 3.5 crore establishments and locations. Google Maps launched a number of India-specific features earlier this year, such as flyovers, road callouts, and Address Descriptors, which allow users to accurately pinpoint a location inside intricate city road networks.
A related development is the addition of Gemini AI to Docs by Google. Compared to competing AI models, it can more clearly generate photo-realistic images of people, landscapes, and animals with only text cues.
Gemini AI may be effectively used by users to upload full-bleed photos that fill a document’s page. Additionally, it can be used to produce inline visuals for promotional flyers, marketing campaign briefs, and digital restaurant menus.
