The Department of Space and Technology will provide assistance to eight quantum startups under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems and the National Quantum Mission.
The choice was made in response to an August 2024 call for ideas issued by the I-Hub Quantum Technology Foundation. For entrepreneurs working on creating quantum technologies, IISER Pune serves as the home of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems’ technological innovation center.
Sunil Nair, a faculty member in the physics department of IISER Pune and project director of the I-Hub Quantum Technology Foundation, said, “In August 2024, the I-Hub Quantum Technologies Foundation hosted at IISER Pune called for proposals from startups in quantum technology. Eight of them were selected for funding.”
Among the firms chosen are QuNu Labs Private Limited, situated in Bengaluru, which seeks to build an end-to-end quantum-safe heterogeneous network, and QpiAI India Pvt Ltd, which intends to use superconducting qubits to build a full-stack quantum computer. IIT Bombay’s Dimira Technologies Pvt Ltd is dedicated to the domestic production of cryogenic radio frequency cables for usage in quantum computing and other fields.
The goal of IIT Delhi-incubated PrenishQ Pvt Ltd is to create and market high-precision diode laser systems for use in quantum technologies. QuPrayog Pvt Ltd, based at IISER Pune, intends to create optical frequency combs for incredibly accurate measurements as well as titanium sapphire lasers for quantum technology.
Pristine Diamonds Private Limited, situated in Ahmedabad, is developing cutting-edge diamond materials containing nitrogen-vacancy centers for use in quantum sensing applications. Quan2D Technologies Pvt Ltd, housed at IISc Bengaluru, seeks to build domestic, reasonably priced single-photon detectors, whereas Delhi-based Quanastra Pvt Ltd is producing superior superconducting detectors and customizable cryogenics.
