Accenture Technology Vision 2025: A new era of AI will bring unprecedented autonomy to businesses

The twenty-fifth annual edition of the report reveals what the future holds and how AI-powered autonomy is transforming business technology development, customer experience, the physical world and global working relationships.

PARIS–( BUSINESS WIRE ): The 2025 edition of the Accenture (NYSE: ACN) study reveals that a new era of digitalization is emerging, where AI is continuously learning and generating greater autonomy in organizations. Trust in its performance is therefore becoming the key ingredient for organizations that want to fully benefit from its full potential.

The 25th edition of Accenture Technology Vision explores how increased autonomy through AI is shaping the future. As the adoption of AI in business and society accelerates at a faster pace than any other technology in the past, 69% of executives, both in France and globally, see an urgent need to reinvent the way we design, build and use technology processes and systems. The study also predicts that AI will become a technology development partner, a brand ambassador, power robots in the physical world and foster a symbiotic relationship with people to maximize their potential.

“ Our 25th Technology Vision offers leaders a glimpse into a future where AI learns continuously, acts autonomously and encourages companies and the people who use it to constantly reinvent themselves,” said Koen Deryckere, Chairman of Accenture France and Benelux. “ But to realize the benefits of AI, leaders must develop trust in its performance and outcomes, allowing companies and individuals to benefit from its incredible potential.”

People’s trust in AI, beyond its technical functioning, is crucial for a broad and positive impact. This implies, beyond the responsible use of AI, more accurate, predictable, consistent and traceable digital systems and AI models. Most executives (77% globally and 86% in France) believe that the real benefits of AI will only be accessible if it is based on a foundation of trust, and 81% (86% for France) believe that a trust strategy must be carried out in parallel with any technological strategy.

“ Advances in the digitization of knowledge, new AI models, and agentic AI systems and architecture are enabling companies to create their own ‘digital brains’,” said Noura Benmeziane, executive director, Accenture Technology France. “ While traditional technologies have long met predefined business needs, this is a moment of generational transition. The autonomy created by these generalized AI systems makes organizations more dynamic and more responsive to user intentions. It allows leaders to rethink the design of digital systems, the organization of work, production and interaction with customers. But trust remains the essential ingredient, because systems will only be able to develop their autonomy if they are trustworthy.”

Accenture’s Technology Vision 2025 examines the potential impact of generative AI on many aspects, such as technology development, customer experience, the physical world and talent:
  • When basic models broke through the natural language barrier, they initiated a shift that would forever change the fundamentals of software development and ecosystems. Already, generative AI coding assistants are elevating the role of developers to systems engineers, accelerating the democratization of code and the digitization of businesses. The rise of personalized systems through AI-assisted software development and the advancement of AI agents is triggering a shift from static application architecture to intent-based frameworks and agentic systems. As multi-agent systems become more capable, adaptable, and personalized, they will drive broader adoption through increased skills, managing entire processes and functions, from simplifying travel to optimizing inventory. For example, Accenture is leading the way in this future with its platforms, GenWizard, SynOps and AI Refinery, which offer pre-built agents and workflows to accelerate the time it takes to build and leverage specialized multi-agent systems.
  • Many organizations are adopting AI as a new customer touchpoint, but brands will only be able to differentiate themselves if they apply the same attention to AI-powered customer experiences. While 80% of global executives and 77% in France worry that LLMs and chatbots will give all brands a similar voice, 77% (80% in France) believe brands can solve this problem by creating personalized AI experiences and integrating distinctive brand elements, such as culture, values and voice, through their “digital brain.”
  • Generalist robots will emerge in the next decade, bringing more autonomy to AI in the physical world. Generalist robots will quickly become specialists by learning new tasks. For example, KION Group is already working with Accenture and NVIDIA to optimize the performance of robots in warehouses, interacting with workers and learning from them how to fulfill orders faster, safer, and more cost-effectively. Eighty percent of executives believe that natural language communication between robots and humans, and continuous learning from these interactions, will increase robot-human trust and collaboration in the future.
  • People and AI create a virtuous learning loop: the more people use AI, the better it gets, and the more they want to use it. Unlike conventional automation that offered one-off benefits, this new era of AI can improve and develop its skills over time, increasing its value to individuals and organizations. A top priority for ensuring a positive relationship between people and AI, according to 80% of global executives and 87% in France, is to communicate and engage employees on the AI strategy to avoid automation-related fears. Accenture recently launched a Generative AI Scholarship Program with Stanford Online to help clients improve their AI knowledge and skills. Additionally, organizations have the opportunity to equip each employee with a talented digital assistant, which will allow them to learn new skills and take greater advantage of generative AI tools. In return, organizations will also benefit, as individuals familiar with generative AI are five times more likely to have a positive perception of the technology.
