Mark Zuckerberg said Meta will start automating the work of midlevel software engineers this year

Coding may become completely automated this year, replacing its status as one of the most in-demand talents on the labor market.

In an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience on Friday, Mark Zuckerberg stated that Meta and some of the largest internet firms are already working toward this.

“Probably in 2025, we at Meta, as well as the other companies that are basically working on this, are going to have an AI that can effectively be a sort of midlevel engineer that you have at your company that can write code.”

Zuckerberg stated that Meta would eventually get to the point where all of the coding in its applications and the AI it creates will be done by AI, even if it may be a costly venture at first. A website that tracks salaries claims that the company’s midlevel software developers currently make over six figures in total pay.

Following a significant week of changes for the firm, Zuckerberg spoke with Rogan.

Zuckerberg revealed on Tuesday that Meta intends to reinstate more political material and replace third-party fact-checkers with community remarks, akin to Elon Musk’s X. Numerous fact-checking organizations have expressed anxiety about the decision, writing in an open letter to Zuckerberg that the changes would be “a step backward” for the business.

Additionally, Meta intends to rescind a number of its DEI programs. Janelle Gale, Meta’s vice president of human resources, stated in an email distributed to employees via Workplace, the company’s internal communications tool, “We will no longer have a team focused on DEI.”
