Dr. Manik Saha, the chief minister of Tripura, declared Thursday that the state government will strengthen policing by using new technologies, such as drones, smart CCTVs, AI-based control rooms, and updated technology at the district and state levels.
Saha stated that Tripura Police “is a pride for us” during his remarks during the Police Week Parade. One of the nation’s oldest police organizations, the Tripura Police, marked its 150th anniversary last year.
Additionally, he thanked banks for providing assistance to the families of police officers who were slain.
“Our government is working for the welfare of the people as well as the police. Law and order is one of the priority sectors of our government. The status of a state is judged based on its law and order,” he pointed out.
2024 had a 19.3% drop in crime over 2023. 2024 saw the lowest crime rate in Tripura in a decade, along with calm Lok Sabha and Panchayat elections. According to CM, the cops were instrumental in this accomplishment.
He informed that Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles have organized over 25,000 social work initiatives in the last three years, benefiting more than 5 lakh people. Additionally, the government has raised uniform allowances, DA, and ration allowances.
“In the coming days, new technologies will be introduced at the district and state levels, including AI-based control rooms, drone technology, and smart CCTVs. The government is working on implementing these measures. A new police headquarters is being set up, and plans are underway to modernize East and West Agartala Police Stations. During my meeting with PM Modi, he emphasized the reconstruction of old police stations and residential quarters,” he added.
