Qualcomm and MapMyIndia, sometimes referred to as Mappls outside of India, have announced a collaboration to jointly create locally tailored products and services for smart, connected automobiles. The businesses are developing solutions specifically for Indian vehicle and bike producers and consumers by fusing MapMyIndia’s digital maps and localized data with Qualcomm’s chip design expertise and digital chassis platform technology.
Connectivity, road and vehicle safety, and convenience features will all be covered by the collaboration. According to MapMyIndia and Qualcomm, they will focus on mass-market consumers by providing reasonably priced, higher-quality alternatives to the current low-end and mid-range automobiles. As a result, a single-platform software-defined vehicle (SDV) solution is produced that may assist automakers in integrating linked services, telematics, mapping, navigation, and device management. The firms promise user-friendly interfaces and offers that can be tailored to each individual user’s tastes and usage habits.
MapMyIndia will provide precise, hyper-local digital map data and create application programming interfaces, while Qualcomm will supply its Snapdragon Digital Chassis, Snapdragon Auto Connectivity, and Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud platforms.
The announcement came on the sidelines of the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. In a prepared press statement, Rakesh Verma, CMD and Founder, MapmyIndia, said “Our work with Qualcomm Technologies allows us to bring affordable, state-of-the-art telematics solutions to a broader segment of vehicles. This will enhance the driving experience for Indian consumers by enabling features that were previously available only in premium vehicles. Together, we are democratising access to advanced technologies and services, thereby improving road safety and convenience for all.”
Savi Soin, Senior Vice President and President of Qualcomm India, said “This collaboration with MapmyIndia is an important milestone for both companies. This technology collaboration combines both companies’ expertise to provide world-class automotive solutions that are designed to help automakers accelerate time to market, reduce costs, and deliver better value and experiences to their customers in India as well as globally.”
