Leeway Softech Pvt Ltd announces that it has started the RCS (Rich Communication Service) for citizens in India. The company started RCS in January 2023 after Google Re-launch this service in India at the same month, said Mr. Tejas Jani, Managing Director of Leeway Softech Pvt Ltd, in an exclusive interview with CIO News.
Mr. Jani said, RCS, which comes under CPAAS (Communication Platform as a Service) was banned by Google in May 2022 because of spam threats. In January 2023, with regulations, lot of monitoring and with very amazing price, Google re-launched RCS in India. Leeway Softech is one of main player in CPAAS who provide this service in India and abroad as well, they distributor of providing RCS in India and took control on the APIs of RCS.

RCS, also known as Chat, is an enhanced messaging experience on Android devices that is an upgrade to simple text/SMS and is similar to iMessage or WhatsApp. Chat features of RCS include phone and computer texting, read receipts, typing indicator, large file transfers, better group chats, high-resolution photo and file sharing, location sharing, and Google Assistant integration.
Android Messages is the default messaging app on all Google Pixel, LG, and Motorola devices from Xfinity Mobile and majority of New Android Devices. All of these devices support Chat features.
RCS first appeared in 2007 and was adopted by the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) in 2008. It is available to Google Android users, and in December 2019, several U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, committed to supporting the protocol.
