A balance between a manager and technology innovator must be maintained at all levels, says Dr. Jassim Haji, President at the International Group of Artificial Intelligence

My faith in God and determination to rise after each hurdle and failure were the main reasons for achieving my goals. Furthermore, like other technology leaders starting from the university and first-level technical jobs gave me the insight that I needed

When asked how he planned his career path to be a successful technology leader, Dr. Jassim Haji, President at the International Group of Artificial Intelligence, in an exclusive interview with CIO News, said, “Sometimes you can not necessarily plan career on your desire as many factors influences it, such as fate, colleagues and superiors, family, and opportunities”. However, my faith in God and determination to rise after each hurdle and failure were the main reasons for achieving my goals. Furthermore, like other technology leaders starting from the university and first-level technical jobs gave me the insight that I needed.

When asked about challenges he faced in his career path and how he overcame them, he said, “I believe overcoming every challenge made me stronger”. These challenges included the environment, people, risks, and decisions that have never been straightforward.

When asked how his organisation geared up in terms of technology in the COVID times, he said, COVID was a true test for any organisation’s Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery. The certificates of compliance and regular tests have been proven in many ineffective organisations. However, many organisations reacted positively with their true technology architecture and futuristic visions.

When asked about technology solutions and innovations he plans to implement in the post COVID era, he said, “Mainly Artificial Intelligence applications through machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and others”.

When asked about challenges faced by technology leaders today in a similar industry while implementing digital technologies, he said that there are always challenges related to qualified resources, appropriate solutions, and availability of funds.

When asked how leaders can overcome the challenges faced, he said, “I believe determinations and continuous innovations are the keys to overcoming many challenges”.

When asked about best practices/industry trends/advice he would like to suggest to fellow leaders for their successful professional journeys, he said, “Many technology leaders get engaged with administrative tasks and meetings that deviate from their main objective of being a technology leader, therefore a balance between a manager and technology innovator must be maintained at all levels”.

He highlighted keeping the focus on innovation with user’s experience and always maintaining talents in your organisations and not only obedient employees.
