In November of 2023, Justine Kosgei began working with AAR Insurance Kenya. In February of 2023, he was appointed Principal Officer.
Justine Kosgei has been named as the new CEO and Principal Officer of AAR Insurance Kenya, succeeding Dr. Patrick Gatonga.
“The appointment marks a significant moment for our company as we continue with our transformative journey dedicated to serving our customers and meeting their evolving needs with innovative products. Under Kosgei’s leadership, we are confident in our ability to embrace new challenges and opportunities anticipating a positive impact on our company’s growth and success,” the Board of Directors said in a statement.
Kosgei began working at AAR Insurance Kenya in November of last year, and in February of 2023, he was appointed Principal Officer. He has been an integral part of the AAR leadership team and has been instrumental in achieving outstanding growth, as seen by a 32% rise in revenue and an increased market share.
“Kosgei focus on profitability through optimized claim rations, efficient underwriting and strategic partnerships has contributed to the company’s impressive 83 percent growth in profit before tax,” the statement said.
The board states that Kosgei has led expansion initiatives in both established and growing markets, introducing new goods including SME Product, Budget goods, and shwAARi, among others, in close coordination with the management.
He has held prestigious roles at companies like APA Insurance as a Divisional Director and UAP/Old Mutual Rwanda as Head of Operations before joining AAR Insurance Kenya. Additionally, he held the positions of Regional Technical Manager for East Africa and Head of Products & Underwriting at UAP Insurance. He also completed a management secondment at Mutual & Federal in South Africa.
Kosgei graduated from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Science. He possesses several certificates, including the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Section 4 certification, and is a member of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Kenya (AIIK). He has also finished leadership courses at Aga Khan University and the Harvard Kennedy School. He is presently working toward a Master of Science in Finance (MSC) and an MBA in business administration.
