ADT, a provider of alarm systems and other physical security systems to homes and small businesses, has admitted that hackers have stolen customer information from its servers.
ADT, a company that offers physical security systems, including alarm systems, to homes and small businesses, has acknowledged that hackers have taken client data from its systems. According to ADT’s petition with the SEC, hackers have gained access to specific databases that hold information about client orders. According to the company’s current investigation, the attackers were able to collect email addresses, phone numbers, and postal addresses, among other types of “limited customer information.”
“Based on its investigation so far, the company has no reason to suspect that customers’ home security systems were compromised during this event. Furthermore, according to ADT, there is no reason to think that the attackers were able to access any other personally identifiable information, such as credit card or banking information.
The clients who make up a small portion of the company’s total subscriber base have been informed, and the company is still looking into this cybersecurity incident,” it continued. According to ADT, the hack probably won’t have a significant effect. About a week after a threat actor claimed to have gotten over 30,000 ADT customer records, including emails and physical addresses, on a well-known hacker site, ADT finally confirmed the information. To support the accusations, the hacker made a sample of the data available.
