Vi, a telecom provider, has revealed a major advancement in spam protection for its customers. The business is launching an AI and ML-powered spam management solution. Through a machine-based automated solution, this new solution is intended to proactively identify and flag any spam communications, assisting Vi users in maintaining a safe and clutter-free mobile experience. Over 24 million spam mails have already been reported by the system since its initial testing phase.
Vi’s Spam SMS solution will protect clients by instantly detecting and handling unwelcome and potentially dangerous text, as spam messages are becoming more prevalent and are frequently used as a doorway to scams.
Speaking on the development, Jagbir Singh, CTO, Vodafone Idea Limited, said: “As more customers embrace digital communication, we recognize the growing threat posed by SMS based spams and potential scam attempts. Our AI-powered spam detection technology reinforces our commitment to customer safety by delivering proactive, real-time protection. Vi is focused on staying ahead of these threats and empowering customers with information to make their mobile experience safer.”
To further safeguard its users from unsolicited calls, Vi is always developing methods to stop spam, including phone calls, as part of its larger commitment to consumer safety and experience. These steps are in addition to a number of other current practices and solutions, such as whitelisting URLs in brand communications and making the mobile app URL easy to use for submitting spam complaints by enabling automatic pick-up of spam content (SMS), sender number, and date. Along with UCC (Unsolicited Commercial Communication) identification, which detects bulk call patterns (such as calls from a single number to numerous other numbers) and restricts their use to prevent future misuse, Vi also makes use of intelligent customer feedback and complaints.
Understanding the need of customer education, Vi also frequently conducts customer awareness campaigns to assist users in identifying phishing attempts, reporting spam, and promoting general vigilance.
How Vi’s SMS spam solution works:
Real-time analysis: Using AI algorithms that have been trained on millions of cases, the system continuously examines incoming SMS messages to spot possible dangers including phony links, illegal marketing, and identity theft attempts. Suspicious activity can be immediately addressed thanks to real-time monitoring.
Pattern Recognition: The predictive system improves its detection capabilities over time by using advanced machine learning algorithms to learn from incoming data patterns like phishing links, odd sender information, and phrases frequently found in spam communications.
Spam tagging: Messages that are detected as spam will be marked as “Suspected Spam” to alert users immediately and assist them in making wise communication choices. This clever strategy not only improves security but also makes sure that important messages aren’t drowned out by spam.
Continuous improvements: It will continuously get better by adjusting to new spam trends using machine learning, increasing its efficacy and accuracy. This implies that it protects consumers from emerging dangers by changing and adapting to new forms of spam as they appear.
Benefits for customers
Enhanced safety: The service protects users from possible phishing and fraud attempts by providing them with information about suspected spam communications and identifying possibly hazardous spam.
Seamless integration: Customers don’t need to set up, install the app, or pay for the service because it is automatic.
