Legal & General Retirement America, a provider of pension risk transfer, has named Anisha Gangwani as its new CIO, effective immediately, a company representative informs the CIO. Gangwani will work out of the company’s Connecticut headquarters as it expands its pension de-risking offerings throughout the United States.
Gangwani will take over for Alla Kleyner, who joined the company in November 2020 and was promoted to chief financial officer.
Gangwani was previously an international investment strategy manager at Legal & General and served as the head of investment business from 2019 to 2024 before being appointed CIO. She was located in London. She was previously Direct Line Group’s head of illiquid investments.
Pension risk transfer services are offered by Legal & General Retirement America in the United States and the United Kingdom. Since 2015, the company has written PRT premiums totaling $10 billion. In 2023, the pension risk transfer market had a record number of transactions; this trend may hold into the first quarter of 2024 as more businesses figure out what to do with their surplus pension cash.
Gangwani graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a Master of Science in finance and economics and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the Shri Ram College of Commerce. Gangwani holds a CFA charter as well.
