NCSC Now Accepting Applications for Cyber Resilience Audits

The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has formally launched a campaign to find auditors for a new cyber resilience project.

A program to recruit auditors for a new cyber resilience project has been formally started by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) of the United Kingdom. At the CYBERUK conference in May, the Cyber Resilience Audit (CRA) concept was unveiled. The agency’s head of assured professional schemes, industry assurance, Catherine H., stated, “This new NCSC scheme assures providers who can conduct independent Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF)-based audits, which will focus initially on supporting some nationally critical sectors.”

The CRA system is primarily concerned with ensuring that suppliers comply with the common rules shared by all oversight agencies. Suppliers who join the program are then qualified to volunteer to lead audits in particular industries, provided they fulfill any further guidelines established by the supervisory authority. Up until now, in order to put everything in place, the NCSC had to collaborate with these organizations, which included top government agencies and regulators. As the CRA gets underway, they will keep doing this in order to track developments and better understand the country’s cyber resilience.

As the CRA gets underway, they will keep doing this in order to track developments and better understand the country’s cyber resilience. Catherine H. said, “You can access the scheme standard and related documentation from our website.” We will declare the program open for business and release buyer information as soon as we have approved a sufficient number of organizations. We anticipate that happening in the fall. Potential audit firms of all sizes are welcome to apply to the CRA, but those that are putting a lot of effort into addressing “issues of underrepresentation” in the sector or “serving geographically remote or underrepresented areas” are especially encouraged to do so. The government introduced GovAssure, a new program in April 2023 that will concentrate on impartial auditing of government entities’ cyber resilience based on the guidelines set.
