The Department of Telecommunications’ Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) was created with the goal of assisting stakeholders in coordinating efforts to reduce the misuse of telecom resources in financial fraud and cybercrime.
The Digital Intelligence Platform and the CHAKSHU – Report Suspected Fraud Communication Facility were today introduced at a New Delhi event by Union Minister of Communications Ashwini Vaishnav. The Department of Telecommunications’ Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) was created with the goal of assisting stakeholders in coordinating efforts to reduce the misuse of telecom resources in financial fraud and cybercrime. While the Chakshu makes it easier for citizens to report suspected fraud when they receive fraudulent communications via WhatsApp, SMS, or phone calls. These include the Department of Telecommunications disconnecting all cell numbers, gas connections, posing as relatives or government officials to deliver money, and KYC expiration or updates for bank accounts.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that in order to give protection from cyberfraud, the government has placed a specific emphasis on cyber security. These two measures, he claimed, will bolster government efforts to combat cybercrime even further. Multiple main bogus mobile connections have been delisted since the Sanchar Saathi Portal launched in May of last year, according to Mr. Vaishnaw. When the Portal finds forged connections, it initiates re-verification. More than 2,500 of these connections are cut off each day, he claimed. Devusinh Chauhan, the Union Minister of State for Communications, was also present at the event.
