On November 24, 2023, IMS told Bank of America that data concerning deferred compensation plans serviced by the Bank may have been compromised.
One of Infosys’s most important clients, Bank of America, has identified Infosys McCamish Systems as the origin of a data breach that has impacted 57,028 customers.
A cybersecurity attack in November of last year affected McCamish Systems, a subsidiary of Infosys BPM, and caused several of its systems and applications to not function. Infosys McCamish, a platform-based business process outsourcing (BPO) company, supports retirement plans, annuity products, and life insurance for the financial services industry.
It also serves as a software reseller for clients in particular industries. In 2009, Infosys BPM (previously Infosys BPO) purchased McCamish.
“On or around November 3, 2023, IMS was impacted by a cybersecurity event when an unauthorised third party accessed IMS systems, resulting in the non-availability of certain IMS applications. On November 24, 2023, IMS told Bank of America that data concerning deferred compensation plans serviced by Bank of America may have been compromised. Bank of America’s systems were not compromised,” said the notice sent to BofA’s customers.
According to the letter, customers’ first and last names, address, business email, date of birth, social security number, and other information might have been included in the deferred compensation plan data.
