Thin slab caster technology will be used by the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), which is a component of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), as part of its Rs 15,000 crore brownfield development.

Enhancing the plant’s operating capabilities and steel quality is the goal of this innovative project among SAIL’s five steel plants.

BSL’s chief of communication, Manikant Dhan, stated, “The 2.62 MTPA brownfield expansion project will commence only after necessary approvals and clearances. It envisages a new blast furnace with a 4,000 cubic meter capacity, two additional converters in the steel melting shop (SMS-New), a thin slab caster, and a focus on renewable energy sources.”
