BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant, unveiled its Xuanji smart car system on Tuesday, hoping to catch up with competitors with capabilities such as automated parking and speech recognition.

BYD has been employing software experts to expand its technological offerings.
Chairman Wang Chuanfu stated during the company’s Dream Day event that BYD had over 90,000 personnel in its R&D departments, with over 4,000 of them focused on smart driving.
BYD’s competitors, including Tesla, Nio, Xpeng, and Huawei, have also invested in smart car technologies, which they regard as key selling factors for their EVs.
