The federal auditor is creating a tech-driven ecosystem for public scrutiny in preparation for the nation’s projected $30 trillion GDP in the ensuing decades, according to Comptroller and Auditor General Sanjay Murthy.
Speaking to a group of chartered accountants on Saturday, the CAG stated that he is aggressively incorporating technology into the audit body’s framework for capacity-building and that he specializes in areas such as cybersecurity, AI-driven analytics, and forensic audits.
By automating repetitive procedures, robotic process automation, according to Murthy, may be utilized to increase audit compliance and minimize effort, allowing audits of whole populations rather than just samples.
“Technology will have leverage to keep up and deliver on the audit and accounting front as the nation moves forward towards a $30-trillion economy by 2047,” he said, adding, “The accounting and auditing professions could become important enablers in this process of ‘Viksit Bharat’, which is a technology-driven and knowledge-based economy with robust public finances and a resilient financial sector.”
He said “a $30 trillion economy will be necessarily digital, as organisations expand into emerging areas, and global champions are born”
