CDK Global starts to repair systems following cyberattack that affects hundreds of retailers

The retail technology and software provider CDK Global stated that it has begun the process of restoring the systems utilized by over 15,000 retail outlets in North America, and it expects the procedure to take “several days.”

Retail technology and software vendor CDK Global said in a statement on Sunday that it has started working to restore systems used by more than 15,000 retail locations across North America, and it anticipates that the process will take “several days.” In an email comment, CDK stated, “We are continuing to actively engage with our customers and provide them alternate ways to conduct business.” A dealer who received a letter from CDK last week reported that the company told him it would take a few more days to get the systems operational. The business, which supplies software to auto dealerships, momentarily stopped operating on all of its platforms on Wednesday and declared that it was looking into a cyber attack.

American auto sellers Penske Automotive (PAG.N) and Sonic Automotive (SAH.N) reported a disruption to their business on Friday due to CDK’s third day of downtime in a row. A group of hackers claiming to be in charge of a cyberattack on CDK’s software systems has demanded a ransom in the millions of dollars to stop the hack.

After paying $6.41 billion to the investment group Brookfield Business Partners in April 2022, CDK became the final significant publicly traded supplier of software to auto dealers and manufacturers, going private.
