More patient data was stolen in February as a result of a hack and data breach, according to an announcement made on Wednesday by the American drug distributor Cencora.

The American medicine distributor Cencora (COR.N.) announced on Wednesday that a cyberattack and data breach in February had resulted in the theft of more patient data than was previously discovered. When the firm discovered the data compromise earlier this year, it opened an inquiry. After reviewing the majority of the exfiltrated material, Cencora has verified that it contained both personally identifiable information and protected health information about specific persons. The majority of the data was kept up-to-date by a subsidiary that offers patient support services.

According to a regulatory filing, the company has informed regulatory bodies and possibly impacted parties as needed. The pharma distributor plans to notify affected and possibly affected parties of any further mandatory notifications while it continues to evaluate the data. Cencora stated that it is working with specialists to bolster our cybersecurity threat detection and that it has no proof that the data has been or will be made publicly available.

According to Cencora, the event hasn’t materially affected the company’s operations.
