An India-based merchant commerce platform – Pine Labs has appointed Phanimohan Kalagara as its new Chief Technology Officer.

Sanjeev Kumar, former Chief Technology Officer of Pine Labs, will now move to a new role within the company and head the research and development (R&D) vertical.

Before joining Pine Labs, Kalagara was the senior vice president of product and engineering at Flipkart for two years. He also spent 12 years with global Fin-tech firm PayPal, where he led the product and engineering team. He also worked on several key assignments in the US for PayPal over a period of nearly eight years.

The appointment comes amid Pine Labs’ plans to scale its buy now, pay later product to international markets. In April, Pine Labs acquired Southeast Asian fin-tech firm Fave in a cash and stock deal valued at over US$45 million.
