The chief information security officer (CISO) and chief information officer (CIO) of Equinix have departed the organization with no successors in place.
After working with Equinix for 14 years, CIO Milind Wagle departed at the end of September, and CISO Michael Montoya left on November 8 after five years with the business.
There have been no prior reports of the departures.
“The two departures are not related, and neither departure is related to a cyber incident,” Equinix told media in a statement.
Until a new CIO is hired, Equinix’s EVP of Business Operations, Nicole Collins, will act as the acting head of the IT department.
Until a replacement CISO is found, Greg Ogle, vice president of global IT infrastructure, will serve as the information security organization’s acting leader.
The organization has not experienced any significant recorded incidents since 2020, when it was the target of a ransomware attack. “The defenses we built over the years, not just months or days, were critical in helping us respond, I think, very effectively,” Montoya told us at the time. “We know our assets, and we’ve done a lot of segmentation and hardening to restrict lateral movement.
“We want to even have greater levels of resiliency in our backups and we took additional measures there as well.”
Adaire Fox-Martin, who was named CEO of Equinix earlier this year, stated that she intends to construct fewer, bigger data centers. DCD exclusively revealed last week that the corporation intends to shut down Equinix Metal.
