Coimbatore’s cybercrime police have retrieved ₹20.74 lakh of the ₹81 lakh that a local man lost in a cybercrime in 2024.
The police claim that in 2024, a 54-year-old man complained to the cybercrime police station about being defrauded of ₹81 lakh in an internet investment scam. The scammers’ names were unknown, but the police filed a complaint and began an investigation.
The police quickly located the bank accounts that were used to transact the stolen money and got in touch with the institutions involved to freeze the accounts. According to a police statement, after persistent attempts, a bank account was blocked and ₹20,74,647 was recovered and transferred into the complainant’s bank account by court orders.
You can report cyber financial fraud and freeze fraudulent transactions by using the government web, www.cybercrime.gov.in, or by calling the toll-free number, 1930.
