The ministry added that although the hackers were able to access a secure backup, they were not able to steal data and transfer it to a server outside of Greece.

Authorities in Greece reported that hundreds of attempts were made to access the nation’s land register website during a significant cyberattack, but no critical data was compromised.

“Over 400 attacks on the land registry’s information systems were recorded this week,” the ministry of digital governance said in a statement.

It further stated that the anonymous hackers had been unable to get into the database.

The ministry added that although the hackers were able to access a secure backup, they were not able to steal data and transfer it to a server outside of Greece.

The statement emphasized that although some internal documents were taken from staff terminals, residents’ private information remains secure.

As of now, no ransomware software has been found, according to the statement.
