Cybercrime Police detains a woman in Chickballapur for using a fictitious marriage account to trick guys

A 45-year-old woman was detained by the Chickballapur cybercrime police on Friday after it was claimed that she was operating a fraud operation on matchmaking websites. The accused, known as Komala, registered on several matrimonial websites after losing her husband a few years ago, the police said, not in search of a life mate but rather to tempt stupid men with promises of marriage.

Under false claims, Komala would speak with guys who were looking for committed relationships and attract them. She presented herself as a wealthy single woman seeking a second opportunity at romance. According to the authorities, she would gradually win their trust and persuade them to send money for a variety of reasons, including urgent medical requirements or debts from her late husband.

Komala used cautious methods; before requesting money, she would spend days establishing a connection with her targets. According to a senior officer who made the arrest, she even created tearful calls and produced false documentation to support her story.

The accused used this strategy to go after Raghavendra, 35, of Gauribidanur. She identified herself as a widow with no relatives and stated that she was hoping to receive ₹6 crore in compensation after her husband passed away. According to reports, she informed Raghavendra that the money was stuck because she was unable to pay her taxes and that she would marry him if he assisted her in doing so. Raghavendra, thrilled by her offer, wired ₹7.4 lakh to a bank account that the authorities subsequently linked to Komala’s mother. When Komala turned off her phone and stopped conversing with Raghavendra as soon as the money was transferred, it became apparent that she was cheating.

On August 23, after he had made several unsuccessful attempts to speak with her, Raghavendra lodged a complaint with the Chickballapur CEN police station. The offender was located and arrested by the police in Bengaluru after they received a complaint.

The investigation found that Komala is a repeat criminal and has been involved in other crimes that are similar, according to Chickballapur Superintendent of Police Kushal Chouksey. The police claim that Komala cheated a businessman in Gujarat out of ₹25,000 and stole ₹1.5 lakh from a Bengaluru resident named Nagaraju. Soon after her arrest, two additional persons went to the police and made similar allegations, according to the authorities.

The accused was married to a KPTCL worker who passed away in 2017. The accused has two kids, ages 16 and 20. A watch and a costly mobile phone were among the ₹20,940 that the police were able to seize. According to the authorities, the accused had already spent the remaining amount.
