The Hyderabad cybercrime unit settled a case involving a fraudulent internet transaction that resulted in a victim’s bank account losing Rs 11.55 lakh.

Following the victim’s discovery of the fraudulent transactions, the incident was reported via the National Cyber Reporting Portal (NCRP). The victim was encouraged by the cybercrime police to file a ticket with her bank for the fraudulent behaviour after they received the report.

Bank officials responded by confirming that the transaction was completed via a payment gateway via a merchant. The bank was instructed to halt the transaction by the police. By October 14, the money had been returned to the victim’s bank account.
