Karan Agarwal has been appointed as the new Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) of the agri-tech business DeHaat. In his new position, he will use artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven solutions to solve agricultural problems, empowering farmers all over India. In addition, he will provide consulting services and look into deep tech and SaaS investment prospects.

Commenting on his appointment, Agarwal said, “Through its innovative, all-in-one platform, DeHaat is revolutionizing agriculture by providing smallholder farmers access to agricultural inputs, advisory services, market connections, and financial support. Joining DeHaat gives me an excellent opportunity to contribute to our mission of building a global Agri SaaS and intelligence platform.”

DeHaat also welcomed Agarwal, saying, “His expertise in driving SAAS adoption, building automation platforms, and digitizing financial systems will be invaluable as he leads the development of DeHaat’s technology ecosystem, including analytics, data science, and product engineering.”

Karan has previously worked for companies such as Delhivery, Toppr, Picus Capital, and Bicycle. He has worked in IT, logistics, and SaaS for over 13 years.

With a large network of more than 11,000 DeHaat centers and 503 farmer producer organizations (FPOs), DeHaat is presently active in 12 agricultural states. With the use of AI capabilities, it currently supports over 2.2 million farmers and offers agricultural guidance for over 30 crops in regional languages.

The company is a fully funded start-up that was started by graduates of IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Ahmedabad. NASSCOM, Forbes, Niti Aayog, and the Bill Gates Foundation have all recognized DeHaat during the last 12 years.
