Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI) is an AI-optimized operating system foundation model platform that Dell Technologies and Red Hat, Inc. are bringing to Dell PowerEdge servers. RHEL AI makes it easier for users to develop, test, and implement generative AI (gen AI) and artificial intelligence (AI) models. Together, these developments make RHEL AI the platform of choice for the Dell PowerEdge R760xa server.

Through this partnership, organizations can more easily adopt successful AI/ML strategies to power enterprise apps across their business and grow their IT systems. Using optimized, AI-enabled hardware solutions and the reliable RHEL AI platform on Dell PowerEdge, Dell and Red Hat are delivering a more consistent AI experience. Using RHEL AI to continually test and validate hardware solutions—such as NVIDIA accelerated computing—this endeavor seeks to streamline the AI experience for consumers.

RHEL AI combines the Granite large language models (LLMs) from IBM Research, which are available under an open-source license, with model alignment tools from InstructLab that are based on the LAB (Large-scale Alignment for ChatBots) methodology and a community-driven model creation process via the InstructLab project. The solution is included in Red Hat OpenShift AI, Red Hat’s hybrid cloud machine learning operations (MLOps) platform, for running models and InstructLab at scale across distributed cluster environments. It is packaged as an optimized, bootable Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) image for individual server deployments across the hybrid cloud.
