The Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) of Singapore and Dragos have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on improving cybersecurity capabilities worldwide.
Brigadier-General (BG) Edward Chen, DIS Defence Cyber Chief, and Kurt Gaudette, Senior Vice President of Intelligence and Services of Dragos, formalized the three-year agreement. The signing coincided with Singapore’s Critical Infrastructure Defence Exercise (CIDeX) 2024. To strengthen Singapore’s defenses against cybersecurity attacks, the DIS and the Cybersecurity Agency of Singapore are organizing this exercise.
Brigadier-General Edward Chen highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating, “The DIS continues to expand and build on its partnership with key partners across various sectors, including the tech industry, to further cyber collaboration. This MOU with Dragos speaks to our close partnership, and we look forward to working closely in the year ahead.”
Kurt Gaudette expressed admiration for Singapore’s approach to cybersecurity, commenting, “Singapore’s proactive approach to cybersecurity is truly impressive and serves as an example for other nations to follow to ensure safety for their critical infrastructure and their citizens. Together, the DIS and Dragos are committed to empowering Singapore with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the evolving cyber threat landscape.”
Following an earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cybersecurity Agency of Singapore to strengthen the nation’s capabilities in operational technology (OT) cybersecurity, which was signed in August 2023, this development represents a continuation of Dragos’ participation with Singapore in cybersecurity.
As part of the endeavor to develop the Next Generation SAF, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) created the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) in 2022. To protect Singapore’s digital realm, the DIS combines cyber capabilities with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I). To improve national security, it works with partners from a range of industries, academic institutions, and government organizations.
The goal of DIS is to ensure Singapore’s peace and sovereignty by maintaining the country’s digital defense and developing a competent digital workforce. It consistently hires and trains digital specialists from both the military and the private sector.
With its headquarters located in the Washington, DC, region, Dragos specializes in OT cybersecurity and offers technology to critical infrastructure and industrial sectors, including government, mining, transportation, manufacturing, water, oil and gas, and electric. Through its comprehensive OT threat intelligence and services team, its platform provides visibility and monitoring of OT environments, detecting threats and vulnerabilities. The business operates in APAC, EMEA, and North America.
