E-commerce businesses appear to be ramping up as the demand for their services keeps rising

According to TeamLease Services, the e-commerce industry is expected to hire 2.5 lakh contractual employees and 10 lakh gig workers during the next festive period in order to meet the spike in demand. The forthcoming festive season is expected to see a 35% spike in e-commerce sales, a significant increase over last year, according to a statement from TeamLease Services Senior VP and Business Head Balasubramanian A.

“This festive season, e-commerce will drive sales and fuel job creation on a massive scale. With 10 lakh gig workers and 2.5 lakh contractual staff to be employed, the e-commerce sector’s role in employment generation will be significantly impacted. This hiring boom not only underlines the sector’s critical role in creating jobs but also its substantial contribution to India’s vision of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025,” he said.

According to projections, the sector would be clearly inclusive by 2026, with over 60% of e-commerce demand coming from tier II, III, and IV cities as well as rural India, he pointed out.

E-commerce businesses appear to be ramping up as the demand for their services keeps rising, according to Balasubramanian.

He also stated that they are prepared to hire for a variety of positions, such as delivery drivers, warehouse employees, customer care agents, and positions in packaging, labelling, quality assurance, and order fulfilment.
