India rose from 47th to the top 10 position in the UN Global Cybersecurity Index during his tenure as the national cybersecurity coordinator

The appointment of Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. Rajesh Pant has been announced by the India Future Foundation (IFF) as its chairman. IFF is a non-profit think tank specialising in digital literacy, cybersecurity, public policy, and capacity building.

Formerly serving as the National Cybersecurity Coordinator in the Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India, Lt Gen. (Retd.) Dr. Pant is a well-known figure in the realm of cyber security. Leveraging his expertise and understanding of the domain, his tenure witnessed the orchestration and coordination of cyber security strategies across diverse sectors.

India rose from 47th to the top 10 position in the UN Global Cybersecurity Index during his tenure as the national cybersecurity coordinator. Dr. Pant also implemented the Trusted Products Directive for the telecom sector.

Further demonstrating his profound dedication to the progression of cyber security through focused research and academic pursuit, Dr. Pant’s academic portfolio includes a Ph.D. in information security metrics. For developing and implementing effective cyber security protocols, his comprehension of the intricate dynamics of information security is invaluable.

Dr. Pant showcased his leadership prowess as the director of the Army’s cyber training establishment before he served as the National Cyber security Coordinator. His tenure marked the evolution of comprehensive training programs that ensured the Indian Army remained at the forefront of cyber defence capabilities.

Spanning over 41 years in the Army Signals Corps, Dr. Pant’s career has earned him nationwide recognition. His contributions to national security and his cyber security achievements have been honoured with three awards from the President of India.
