Ransomware attack has apparently targeted France tech giant Atos SE. The business has acknowledged that it is looking into allegations made by the ransomware outfit Space Bears that one of Atos’s databases was compromised. Cybercriminals encrypt the victim’s data in these assaults and keep it encrypted until a ransom is paid. Atos, one of the largest IT firms in France, focuses on digital transformation, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The business said that its cybersecurity team is currently looking into the matter and that it is taking the cybercrime group’s allegations seriously. If things change, Atos has also committed to making the updates available to the public.

What Atos said about the ransomware attack

In an official statement, the company said: “On December 28, 2024, the Space Bears ransomware group claimed to have compromised an Atos database. At this stage, the initial analysis shows no evidence of any compromise or ransomware affecting any Atos/Eviden systems in any country, and no ransom demand has been received to-date. Nevertheless, Atos takes such allegations very seriously. Its cybersecurity team is actively investigating the situation and updates will be provided if there is any change to the information above.”

How dangerous is the ransomware group

A ransomware organization known as Space Bears first appeared in early 2024.

The Canadian software development company Haylem and its affiliates, Un Museau Vaut Mille Mots and Lexibar, are among the several victims the organization has reportedly attacked globally.

The attackers claimed to have gained access to private database data at that time, including customer and staff information.

According to the article, the group also broadened its activities earlier this month by focusing on JRT Automatization in Canada and Aptus in India.
